Course Overview

Clarify the key purposes and principles of effective marking and feedback within assessment for learning, identify and discuss the role of success criteria and outline the features of next steps in marking.

About the Speaker - Elliot Costas-Walker

Teaching & Learning Lead for Leading Learners Academy Trust, Elliot is highly knowledgeable and experienced in the mentoring, management and development of NQTs. Having progressed rapidly since qualification himself, Elliot is now working across all Leading Learners schools to implement quality and consistent teaching throughout the Trust, working particularly closely with NQTs.


Course Objectives - “What you will learn”

Our NQT Induction Year Programme is a full, immersive series that prepares for and supports NQTs across all phases throughout their first year in the classroom, providing the confidence, knowledge and skills for delegates to be able to make a difference to children’s outcomes right from the start. Working within a school-led system, NQTs who are well-prepared for their RQT year are then more likely to progress to Subject and Middle Leadership, developing capacity with motivated and experienced, quality teachers.

Forward Together’s experienced group of primary and secondary Specialist Leaders in Education are deployed to schools in Wigan, Leigh and the wider local area in need of support, guidance or fresh ideas.

Forward Together, with schools both within our alliance and from further afield, helps schools to spot talent and ensures that training opportunities are available for those with a desire to improve and further their careers.

The Forward Together TSA is built on a foundation of professional partnerships and supporting schools to help them attain greater outcomes for their children. Teachers and leaders in the alliance are encouraged to move around schools and share their own methods for success.

Forward Together is working with the University of Manchester on projects to develop positive partnerships between teaching schools and alliance schools. The study reviews the whole spectrum of partnership working with the central theme of moving schools from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’.
