Growing and nurturing your own talent is crucial to a successful school, seeing NQTs develop into middle and, eventually, school leaders.

Forward Together, with schools both within our alliance and further afield, helps schools to spot talent and ensures that training opportunities are available for those with a desire to improve and further their careers.

Leadership with Forward Together

St Paul’s CE Primary School, Bolton heads the delivery of Forward Together’s leadership and succession planning pathways in partnership with Edge Hill University’s Leadership Academy. We offer a full programme of leadership development through Edge Hill, including NPQH, NPQSL, NPQML, NQTLP and EYLDP.

Programmes offered include:

The NPQSL recognises leadership development and professional achievement as a senior leader, suitable for those with cross-school responsibilities and experienced middle leaders. Essential modules in Closing the Gap and Succeeding in Senior Leadership accompany two elective modules on a range of themes.

Also available: National Professional Qualification for Headship.

The NPQML recognises leadership development and achievement as a middle leader, suitable for those with responsibility for leading a team, heads of department and pastoral leaders. Essential modules in Leading Teaching and Managing Systems and Processes accompany two elective modules on a range of themes.

This course is suitable for those with, or planning to have, responsibility for leading a team in school and will help you to develop the skills, confidence and knowledge to improve team performance and classroom practice. Completion of two modules, Leading Teaching and Succeeding in Middle Leadership, can count towards the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership.

Also available: Aspiring Senior Leaders

Through a supported work-based project and three learning sessions, you will build competencies and skills for leadership, driving and evidencing positive impact on pupil and school improvement.

Also available: Recently Qualified Teacher Leadership Programme

Designed for leaders and aspirant leaders working in EYFS settings, the Early Years Leadership Development Programme allows you to reflect upon your own leadership and management, develop an understanding of strategies and styles and consider impact and practice in school.

Covering themes of outstanding teaching, improving outcomes and making a positive contribution, this 3-part course is intended for classroom teachers who are on UPS3 and have decided to stay in the classroom rather than follow a leadership route.
